The poor turnout of just five players of the 2010 Dragons’ premiership winning side at a 15-year reunion on Saturday night has been labelled “embarrassing”.
Of the 18 players in the squad for the Dragons’ 32-8 win over the Roosters in the 2010 decider, only Ben Creagh, Dean Young, Jason Nightingale, Michael Weyman and Dan Hunt, who didn’t play, were unveiled at half time to the crowd at Kogarah over the weekend.

Veteran journalist Phil Rothfield called it “embarrassing” in his column for The Daily Telegraph, elaborating on the story on the Big Sports Breakfast radio show on Monday morning.
“I think it’s really sad. The proudest, oldest, most famous club even though I know they’re a joint venture now,” Rothfield said.
“That was a memorable premiership under Wayne Bennett and only Jason Nightingale, Michael Weyman, Dean Young and Ben Creagh turned up.
“They’ve had some pretty high profile fallouts there with Matt Cooper and Jamie Soward not feeling welcome at the club. They are both on the record of saying that.
“They presented them to the fans at Kogarah on Saturday and it just looked so odd them not having a greater representation.”
Soward has been particularly vocal in recent times after being sacked as head coach of the club’s NRLW team.
“Why’d you leave the Dragons?’ The Dragons got rid of me,” Soward said on The Bye Round podcast.
“For me personally, I’ve never felt comfortable, like I was part of the Dragons club. It’s really sad because it is such a proud, historic club.”
